Keeping our Students Involved in their Temecula Church this Summer
Many families see summertime as a chance to take a break from their regular schedules. They look forward to having fewer commitments and events on their calendars, spending less time rushing from place to place, and enjoying more quality time together as a family.
While we know many families with school-aged children use the summer months to travel and enjoy vacations, here at Sunridge, we also want to make sure our students stay connected with one another and with their leaders throughout the summer. Just as importantly, we want to help them continue growing in their relationship with Jesus and deepen their understanding of God’s Word.
Summer Activities for Students at Our Temecula Church
Some of the biggest summer events for our students are the camps they have the opportunity to attend each year. Our Quest camp for middle school students already took place in June, but our Epic high school students and their leaders will be heading to Big Bear from July 24–26 to spend time together in fellowship and in God’s Word. Our 4th and 5th graders will be attending camp from August 2–5, traveling with their leaders to the beautiful Forest Home campgrounds to learn more about God’s faithfulness through the stories found in the book of Exodus.
All of our summer camps include Bible teaching, worship services, small group discussions, and opportunities for personal reflection and prayer. Year after year, we have seen students return from camp with a new or renewed passion for God and His Word. Many students take important steps in their faith journey during these experiences, and we are praying that this year will be no different.
Of course, our summer camps are also packed with fun! Students have the opportunity to build friendships, create lasting memories, participate in exciting activities, and enjoy a break from their everyday routines. Your student is sure to have a great time and will probably come home exhausted from the packed days and late nights.
If your student has not yet signed up for camp, we encourage you to contact Jaydon or David, our high school ministry directors, or Tara Thomas, our children’s pastor, to see whether any spots are still available. If finances are a concern, please let a leader know. Scholarships may be available to help offset the cost and ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate.
In addition to camp, our high school group is planning a trip to Knott’s Berry Farm on August 1. Contact one of the high school ministry directors for more information about this exciting summer outing.
Weekly Gatherings for Students at Sunridge Church in Temecula
In addition to camps and special events, our youth groups will continue meeting regularly throughout the summer. Quest meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30–8:00 p.m., and Epic meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00–8:30 p.m. in the Sunridge youth room. Children in fifth grade and younger meet on Sunday mornings during the 10:00 a.m. service.
These weekly gatherings provide students with a consistent opportunity to connect with friends, learn from God’s Word, worship together, and receive encouragement from trusted leaders. Students are always encouraged to invite their friends, especially those who do not already have a church home. Summer can be a great time for someone to visit a Temecula church for the first time and experience a welcoming community.
Service Opportunities for Students at Our Temecula Church
Do you have a student with a heart for serving others? We would love to help him or her get connected with one of our ministries or find a meaningful way to serve within the church.
Is your teenager great with younger children? He or she could serve in children’s ministry on Sunday mornings or become a one-on-one buddy for one of our students with special needs. Is your student interested in technology? There are opportunities to serve in the tech booth during Sunday services or youth gatherings, helping with lighting, video, or sound. Our church staff can also use assistance throughout the week with projects involving video editing, graphic design, social media, photography, and other creative tasks.
During the summer, we can always use additional help around the church as some of our regular volunteers take time off for vacations and family activities. If your student is looking for a way to make a difference, serving at our Temecula church can be a great opportunity to grow in faith while helping others. Ways Adults Can Serve the Youth at Sunridge
Our student ministries are always looking for caring adults who want to invest in the lives of young people by pointing them to Jesus, modeling a life of faith, mentoring them, or simply being a listening ear and a supportive presence. One of the most impactful ways to serve is as a small group leader who helps guide discussions, encourages students in their faith, and prays with them regularly.
There are also many behind-the-scenes opportunities that help make youth gatherings and events successful. If you are gifted in administration, creative arts, technical production, event planning, hospitality, or organization, the youth ministry leaders at Sunridge would love to connect with you and discuss how your gifts could be used to serve.
We know that volunteering in youth ministry is not for everyone, but if you have felt a nudge toward working with students, we encourage you to reach out to one of our youth staff members and start a conversation about where you might be able to get involved.
Ever since Sunridge was founded, we have placed a high priority on caring for the youth of our church and the youth in our community. We want to provide every opportunity for students to be grounded in the Word of God and equipped for a lifetime of faithful service to Him. We also want to create an environment where they can develop meaningful friendships and build relationships with godly mentors who can encourage them throughout their walk with Christ.
Following Jesus is not always easy in today’s world, but having a loving and supportive community of believers can make a tremendous difference. As a Temecula church committed to raising up the next generation, we invite our entire church family to join us in praying for our students, encouraging them in their faith, and helping them become more connected to the community God has provided for them.
