Sunridge Vision Statement

With input from our staff, elders, and transition team our vision statement for this transition season reads…

We will maximize our God given opportunity to unify Sunridge by humbly:

• Recommitting to be Christ-centered and gospel saturated in all we do (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
• Embracing conflict and growing through it (Ephesians 4:15)
• Developing biblically-based leadership and governance that prize relationships, focus, and accountability (1 Peter 5:1-4)

What does it mean to be “Christ-centered and gospel saturated”?

“Christ-centered and gospel saturated” means that Jesus becomes our greatest hope and boast, our deepest longing and joy, as well as our most passionate song and message.  It means the gospel defines us as Christians, unites us as brothers and sisters, transforms us as both sinners and saints, and sends us to live our mission as God’s people spreading God’s good news to those who have been sovereignly placed in our lives (also see Romans 1:16-17; Colossians 1:6; 2 Peter 1:9; 3:18; 1 John 5:21).

What does it mean to embrace conflict and grow through it?

Conflict is not only inevitable; it also is indispensable, providing opportunities to learn how to interact respectfully with one another, and work together humbly to discern God’s highest good.  Biblical conflict resolution is always guided by God’s Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit. It also requires a willingness to seek input from godly and impartial third parties as the need arises (see Matthew 18:15-17; James 1:9; Proverbs 15:1; Matthew 5:9; Galatians 6:1).

What is “biblically-based leadership and governance”?

A “biblically-based leadership and governance model” allows a church to carry out the functions of worship, discipleship, fellowship, and mission by empowering the eldership (with consistent input from the congregation) to oversee the church’s vision, while empowering the lead pastor and ministry staff to carry out the specifics of ministry with both freedom and accountability (see also Acts 15; 20:17-31, Hebrews 13:7, 17; 1 Timothy 5:17; Titus 1:7; and 1 Peter 5:1-4).
