Bobservations: Sound System
When Sunridge occupied our building in 2004, we kicked off our first service with a high-quality, used sound system. It sounded like we were in a high-end auditorium listening to music at its best. You could hear every word so clearly; it was as if they were talking just to you. According to Sound & Communication, sound systems typically last between 15 to 20 years. Because of the way we’ve cared for our assets over the years, our sound system has made it far beyond its expiration date. But, despite our best efforts, too many speakers no longer work, and replacement speakers for our current system are no longer available.
Sinking Fund
We take stewarding (managing) God’s resources very seriously at Sunridge. Each year we take almost five months to construct a zero-based budget established on an accurate picture of our giving, attendance, and trajectory. We evaluate which portions of the budget to include or remove. The 2017-18 budget began the first year of a 3-year sinking fund earmarking $100,000 for a sound system. A sinking fund is a way to save for upcoming costs before they are due. It is a way to set aside a specific amount of money to pay for costly items. Unfortunately, after only one year, we had to suspend this sinking fund as part of the 2018-19 budget reductions and have not re-established this import budgetary element.
Christmas Offering
During the 2021 Christmas season, Sunridge minimized the giving options to maximize our effectiveness. Because of the generous response, Sunridge transferred over $66,000 to the CIF (Capital Improvement Fund), providing the financial resources to pay for ongoing projects, like the fire alarm retrofit and slurrying our lot. Right now, we now have almost $50,000 for our new sound system.
Current Need
We are on borrowed time when it comes to our current sound system. Our Sunday morning services are the primary way we accomplish our mission of helping people find and follow Jesus. Filling our Worship Center with quality sound for both the band and the person speaking is crucial to achieving our mission. We have been working with a vendor to find a replacement sound system. The cost to purchase and install this system is $107,242. That means we need an additional $55,000 to complete this project.
How You Can Help
Would you prayerfully consider supporting the purchase of the new sound system at Sunridge? If God is tugging at your heart to donate toward this important and worthy cause, when you are ready, use the camera on your phone to scan the QR Code below or click here to give to the CIF.
Thank you for your generous, faithful, and consistent support of what God is doing in and through Sunridge.
