2021 Pre-Summer Retreat
A chili cook-off. An overnight RV/tent-camping event. A bread-baking competition. Chick-fil-A. Laugh-your-head-off recreation and competition that reminds you of high school camp at a lake. Worship. A morning mountain bike ride, yoga, walking, running, or some other group, physical activity. Impactful main sessions, group times, and breakouts. A large game of kick-ball. A weekend that sets you up for a meaningful summer with old friends, new friends, and a church family. We know that Memorial Weekend generally means a handful of those things so we figured: why not break tradition and potentially start a new one together?
Sunridge invites you to our 2021 Pre-Summer Retreat, a two-night, on-campus event where we will not only partake in all of the above but much more, all the while considering and celebrating what it means to be Formed.
WHO: We’ll have activities for your whole family, but our evening main sessions will be for middle school and up.*
WHAT: All of the above + see the schedule below
WHERE: Sunridge Community Church campus + Vintage Reserve Park (Saturday afternoon)
WHEN: See schedule below for additional times. Main sessions are Friday, May 28th (6pm-9pm) and Saturday, May 29th (5pm-9pm).
WHY: Not? But seriously, you don’t want to miss out.
*Families with littles: Since our main sessions are for middle schoolers and up, we understand that this means babysitters on two-consecutive nights, but we really don’t want you to miss out. So here are two things to consider: 1) Email Jed at jmanimtim@sunridgechurch.org to find out how we can help you cover the cost of babysitting in the evenings if cost is a deterrent; and 2) Make sure to have your whole family join us on Saturday afternoon for our all-church picnic!

FAQ’s
Is this retreat for me?
If you’re reading this, the answer is probably, “100%, yes.” One of the things we love about Sunridge is our intergenerational spread and the wide spectrum of season of life that’s represented here. So whether you’re single or married, an empty-nester or a young adult, a high school student or a grandparent, we think the best part of this weekend is how we’ll all be together for a formative weekend. Programming is for any adult, all the way down to incoming middle schoolers.
Do I have to spend the night at church? Where will I sleep?
Nope! While we have designated spots for RVs and the adventurous who might want to tent camp for adventure’s sake, we expect that most people are going to spend the night in their comfy beds at home.
What if I want to go to the beach on Memorial Day?
You absolutely can. Our retreat schedule is only for Friday night and Saturday, meaning that you still have Sunday and Monday to soak up the sun, BBQ, and enjoy the long weekend.
What am I supposed to do with my younger kids?
Parents who have littles and elementary school kids will need to find a babysitter on Friday and Saturday night, but we don’t want cost to be a deterrent. While we can’t provide a babysitter for you and we won’t be having on-campus childcare, we’d love to help cover some of that cost. Email Jed at jmanimtim@sunridgechurch.org for more details.
Lastly, our Saturday afternoon programming will take place at Vintage Reserve Park. They’ve got a wonderful kids playground, we’ll be playing kickball (including our elementary schoolers), and we hope to see all of our families there together from 11am to 1pm.
