Is it just me, or is this Christmas season going to hold special meaning for us this year? Just as the birth of Jesus triggered a new season of grace to ancient Palestine and to “all people,” so it seems God is doing something fresh through a group of people called “Sunridge.” My celebration of Advent this year will certainly include both intentional contemplation of what the Christchild’s coming has meant for me, as well as anticipation of what God will do through His church as we move forward. All of this is rooted in a renewed awareness of the gospel and the hope it brings to the world.
As part of our celebration during December, we will be receiving a special offering on the second Sunday of the month, December 14.
This offering is intended to bolster three particular ministries, Project Touch, Birth Choice and The Brook, that have been helping and serving the most at-risk communities in the Valley for many years.
In addition, a portion of this special offering will help fill some current staffing vacancies. I’m asking you to join me in prayerfully considering how God would have you contribute to these worthy causes, above and beyond your regular giving. More on that to come.
During December, we will be taking a break from David – Renaissance Man, and I’ll be launching our Christmas Traditions series. The topics will cover our most traditional Christmassy traditions: expectancy, giving, receiving, and the inevitable, “after Christmas blues.” These topics get at the heart of what most of us would like to find under the tree, regardless of whether or not we go to church regularly. So, invite your friends!
Luke 2:10 The angel said, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
