Since July 1st a lot has been accomplished. Much of it has been behind the scenes working with the elders, staff, and newly formed transition team. Here’s an overview…
- Transition vision statement articulated (see previous post).
- Preaching team and schedule planned through Dec. (Gregg, Erin, Britt, Jed, Kevin Springer, and Dave Miles). Prayerfully considering sermon series for January and beyond…
- Theological “reboot” in progress – “Christ-centered and gospel saturated” (see previous post)
- Emotional health/conflict resolution skill training activated in eldership, staff, and encouraged and made available throughout Sunridge (Making Peace, Prodigal God, and Emotionally Healthy Church).
- Skill training and ongoing dialogue implemented toward migration to a policy-based governance model (reading Leading Leaders). A Fri night, Sat morning workshop scheduled for training elders, staff, and transition team (Nov 15-16).
- Eldership focus reformatted to “3D’s”: Direction, Doctrine, and Discipline – all in the context of prayer.
- Transition Team nominated, interviewed, commissioned, and meeting regularly to come alongside the elders and staff to help guide Sunridge through this transition season.
- Search Team Chairperson identified (Eric Anderson) and nominations for 4-5 team members underway.
- Mistrust between staff and elder team has been addressed and in process of healing.
- All staff role descriptions have been re-written with specific ministry objectives and personal growth goals established pending final approval. Regular coaching and performance reviews to be scheduled and implemented.
- Summit 1 – Journey Wall planned for THIS Sun, Nov 3 from 3-6pm.
- Successful transition from Brian/Erin to Jed has been realized.
- Successful transition from Sarah to Tara has been realized (we still need to advertise the position – out of due diligence)
- Prayer Ministry Team has been re-initiated for Sun services (Bud and Sue leading this).
- Short-term missions trips have been reactivated and movement toward reestablishing a missions board is in progress (Lisa and Norm Purvis are leading this initiative).
- Bi-monthly Concerts of Worship and Prayer established with good potential for growth. TBD – midweek or Sun evening??
- Quarterly Leadership Community Gatherings (LCG’s) initiated.
- “Pastor’s Blog” dedicated (mostly) to specific communication regarding transition is up-and-running.
- Performance review of Gregg scheduled to be initiated on Nov 10 – training to be led by Dave Miles.
