We have called Sunridge home since 2003. I consider it a great privilege to serve God and our church family as an elder. Back in our early years we jumped right into home groups, developing friendships that will last a lifetime. I have enjoyed leading home groups, and now serving as an elder, watching people grow in their relationships with God and each other. Life is busy these days, with kids growing into young adults keeping us on our toes. It has been amazing to see our kids grow up in this church, with great friends and leaders who invest their hearts and souls in them. I love this church and remain excited to see what God has prepared for us to do!

My wife Sarah and I and our two sons have lived in Temecula since 1998. We began attending Sunridge soon after we moved here and knew right away it was our church home. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to serve here in different ministries including home groups, children’s ministry, youth ministry, and missions. I feel honored and humbled to serve Sunridge as an elder. I am a firefighter-engineer with the Oceanside Fire Department and have worked there for about 25 years. I also enjoy home projects, hiking, surfing, and just about anything outdoors!

My wife Debi and I have been attending Sunridge since 2003, and I feel fortunate to have served Sunridge in a number of capacities including mission work in several countries, ushering, and opening our home to an awesome life group that has been together for 10 years. I am employed by a medical company that provides products for cancer treatment planning and radiation therapy. During my spare time I enjoy being with family and friends, flying, and anything that involves the outdoors! It is my heartfelt passion to see the body of Christ at Sunridge draw closer to Jesus and grow spiritually through the teaching of God’s Word.

Cheryl and I came to Murrieta 10 years ago and began attending Sunridge shortly after moving to the Valley. We have found a loving church home at Sunridge and are thankful for the opportunities God has given us here. I retired in 2012 from a small defense-oriented consulting company. Retirement has blessed me with the time to serve God through the ministry programs at Sunridge. In my free time I enjoy the outdoors with Cheryl and our extended family. I also enjoy reading, church doctrine, writing, tutoring, cycling, hiking, and trying to keep up with my grandkids.

I welcome the opportunity to serve as an elder! Our family began attending Sunridge in 2004 after friends recommended the great youth programs. Since then I’ve enjoyed serving in children’s ministry, middle school small group, and on the facilities team. I am employed by a group of software companies called Novell/NetIQ/SUSE and manage a team of service account managers that cover our North American customers. In my spare time I like to work on improvement projects around the house, for friends, and at church. We love spending time at the beach with friends and family, and supporting our hometown team, the Ohio State Buckeyes, especially during football season!
Letter from the Elders
Sunridge Community Church is led by a group of elders, who are called to shepherd the spiritual well-being of the congregation by giving oversight and direction to the church.
As outlined in the Bible, Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and its supreme authority. (Colossians 1:18)
In addition to the lead pastor, the elders include a team of men who serve willingly (1 Peter 5:2), meet the scriptural qualifications for those who oversee the church (as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1), and are gifted to serve the needs of Sunridge. (Romans 12:8)
The elders determine the vision and values of Sunridge, while the pastoral staff is responsible for the day-to-day operations.
- We pray for — and on occasion with — those who are sick and in need. (James 5:14-15)
- We guard the truth of the scriptures and apply them to church situations. (1 Timothy 3:2,Titus 1:9)
- We shepherd and care for the spiritual welfare of those who call Sunridge their church home. (Acts 20:28)
- We oversee discipline and restoration of those who voluntarily agree to submit to the authority and judgment of the elders, and to the discipline, restoration and conflict resolution policies of Sunridge. (Titus 1:13)
We are grateful for the support of our church family (Hebrews 13:17) and welcome their comments, observations or concerns. For more detailed information regarding the operations of Sunridge Community Church, please review our by-laws.
