Interested in going on a specialized, short-term missions trip? On Friday, Oct. 10, and concluding on Sunday, Oct. 12, a group of 17 students and 3 adults from Epic HSM will be serving on a weekend missions trip with Jill’s House, a unique ministry that provides respite care to families who have children with special needs. Jill’s House is based in Washington, D.C.; however, an expansion of their ministry called OXYGEN3 Missions enables local churches to partner with them for weekend trips all across the U.S. If you’d like to learn more, check out oxygen3.org.
Our team will be going up to Thousand Pines Christian Camp, which is located in the mountains west of Lake Arrowhead. Here’s how OXYGEN3 explains what the weekend looks like:
“Each OXYGEN3 missionary is paired for the weekend with a specific child with special needs. He or she will be referred to as your buddy – and that’s the best way to think of them. As a buddy. A new friend who needs to experience the love of Christ. With the Jill’s House team supporting you every step of the way, you will focus all your energies on bringing joy to one child for the entire weekend. You’ll be with your buddy from breakfast to bedtime, guiding them through activities, helping them to have fun, caring for their routine needs – just being their friend and showing them the love of Jesus.”
This is going to be an incredibly special weekend. Due to limited space, please contact our HS Pastor, Jed, at jmanimtim@sunridegchurch.org to see how many spots are still available. Typically $250 of support has to be raised for the trip, but due to a large donation, each team member will have to pay no more than $40.
